When I was looking for a new home in 2006 one of my criteria was as small a garden as possible. I found one I thought met all by criteria but the sale fell through. I gave up looking for a while and then realised that the only reason why I was staying where I was that I had not given on trying to save my ex-husband from his mental health problems. I knew the only hope for this was with the Lord. Then Christmas 2006 I asked the Lord what the situation was and ended up being shown from Zechariah that God eventually stops listening to people and after point has been reached even if they cry out to him he will not help them. I then started looking for a new home again.
This time i visited a church I was thinking of moving to. I found myself invited to stay for the farewell lunch for their minister. Someone asked him within my hearing if he had sold his house yet and they had not. I asked his wife if it was within my budget and it was. I knew it was the right place for me the first time I saw it. I then had a look around to see what else there was on the market and there was nothing else around anywhere near as suitable. Within 2 weeks of deciding to move house I knew where I was going to move to.
God managed to sort out the problems of three of his children in one move. They wanted to move quickly and I was able to move as fast as they were able to do so everyone was happy.
Why say all that here? That was how I got a garden. For the last 18 years of my marriage one of the big problems was the garden. He developed an irrational fear of the garden. There was a special routine to carry out every time someone walked on it. The aim was to protect them from whatever he thought was wrong with it. I would not dare walk on it when he was around because of his fear and associated anger. End result was one very neglected garden. Some years the grass was over a foot tall and was on cut once all year. It was heartbreaking just looking at it and thinking what it could be if only things were different.
Now I have a garden to care for myself. It is hard work at times. There is no one else who will cut the grass or dig or weed or plant etc. It is not an easy discipline but it is work that uses energy. I am not sure that I would call it fun but even though I thought that I did not want a garden the Lord made sure that I had one.
Today I have come in from work and had to spend over an house cutting the grass. At least it was exercise that has some end result.

Well, I was kind of restricted to my house alot a year ago. I live pretty far out in the country and the gas prices kept my trips to town at a minimum. So my darling boys bought me a Wii system and Wii fit game and that's where I started 351 days ago! LOL On that I do yoga, shadow boxing, strength training, balance games, hula hoop, stair step, strength training... all kinds of things. I really never got bored and was able to switch it up so my body didn't get used to the movements either. Oh and it never took more than 30-50 mins in front of my TV to do either. Then I got adventurous and added the Gold's Gym Cardio Workout game and I fell in love with all the shape boxing routines and added exercises. I felt like Rocky Balboa, empowered so to speak. I've really not been bored with that little white box yet. I've heard others say that the Wii games are just as energetic and fun as well... I should try them sometime when I make a friend or two to share them with ) Jewel

Susan,
That was a fascinating story! I have a similar one but I think I'll tell it in another forum.... I do believe it's a testimony or something LOL Thank you for sharing that because I love gardens and am just now beginning to learn little things about them. I grew tomatoes to my surprise!

Dennis,
I am just a bit younger, but not all that much! In my mid 40's. I am not a patient person when it comes to waiting (yes, the Lord and I do go around that issue frequently!) so instead of standing in one place waiting for a bus, why not use that time effectively and walk/jog to the next stop, or the next or however long it takes for the bus to get there? Honestly, in the 15-20 minutes one would wait for the "next" bus, one could transport themselves to where they need to go (within reason) by the time the bus even arrived at the starting point.
I would rather use my time well, than let it go to waste.
