How does one place a partial quote into a reply? I click on the "quote" button atop the message to which I wish to reply, but it reprints the entire message inside of the block. I see others are able to quote just one or two sentences inside of their reply. I am always willing to be taught, so thanks!

I use the quote function to get the whole mesasge, and then highlight the part I don't want and select "cut".

Well, duh. That's too obvious. Must be the end of the work-week. Thanks.

Okay, you two. I finally mastered the smiley faces, but tried to follow your instructions as I understand them. The "cut" choice does eliminate the unwanted parts of the quotation, but mine does not post in the gray box and does not show the name of the original person who posted the quote. Help, please. Leslie Leslie, I think I saw the post you are referring to. The problem was that you did not just cut the unwanted text from the post, you also cut the actual code (which is inside the square brackets) that ids the thread you are quoting and tells it to quote it. There is code with square brackets on both sides (beginning and end) of the person's message that you are quoting. You can't cut that part away. In your case you cut away the beginning part. This is what it looks like (but replace the {} with []...I couldn't use the real square brackets because then the system would think I was staring a quote instead of showing you the part not to cut: {quote author=leslie board=other thread=55 post=262 time=1251595818} and at the end there is {/quote} And you can use the preview button to see what it will look like and if you go the quote correct. Blessings

Thanks for the help, Teresa. One benefit I did not expect from this forum - becoming more computer literate!
