They call it "green" because spinach is "hidden" in it..but you won't taste the spinach. If you use frozen veggies and frozen fruit, then you won't need to use ice to get the think milkshake type of texture. You need a blender.
Mix the following in a blender:
* 1/3 bag of frozen Spinach (1 lb bag) * 6 oz frozen berries (Raspberries, strawberries, blueberries - usually come in 12 oz bags, so 1/2 bag) * 6 oz of frozen Mango (or frozen Papaya) * water (I start with 1.5 cups but occasionally have to add a bit more) * regular banana (I throw this in about 1/2 of the time)
Mix together in blender until it has a texture like a milkshake and then drink.
NOTE: you can use whatever fruits you like, it doesn't have to be precisely the ones I mention here. But if you are just starting out, you might want to start with this "proven" recipe and then begin making your own modifications after you try it. Again, frozen fruits and frozen spinach work best, but you can use fresh fruits and add ice.

Ever since you posted this recipe I've been thinking about it. Haven't tried it yet, cuz we've been without a blender for over a year. (Our latest one lasted less than five years; my sister-in-law has her late mother's blender, which is made of steel and glass and is more than 35 years old---they really don't make 'em like they used to.) We're buying a blender this coming weekend, and I'll try your smoothie. With variations.
