I came directly to this section after I introduced myself because I instantly know of one huge problem that I'm having that disturbs me greatly and I'm hoping that God is leading me here for help.
For many years I have been "sleep eating" At least this is what I've been calling it. My family and I have been finding "evidence" of massive amounts of eating that I'm doing while not conscious of it. Wrappers, meat bones, plates, bowls, loads of missing food... there is no telling how much food or calories that I'm consuming during these episodes.
The one thing I suspect or sense is that I tend to do it more often when our finances are tight and food is low in the house. But, as it's been brought to my attention, I realize that I've probably been doing it most of my life and I'm 51 years old now.
I sure could use some prayer and insight...

hi Jewell. This isn't a quick-fix type of solution, but perhaps you could make it a habit of praying before you go to sleep each night. Invite the Lord into your sleep and ask Him to "wake you up" when you start to eat things you don't need to eat, so that you can begin being aware of it and catching the problem. Bring the problem to Him and ask Him to help you with it.
(And yes, that is a very unusual problem...I've not heard of that one before.) But one time when I was on a 40 day fast, I dreamed that I was eating and the dream seemed so real that when I woke up, I started repenting for breaking the fast...only to have the Lord tell me that I'd just dreamed it and not actually eaten any food. I guess that is kind of the opposite of your situation, but it is the most similar thing I could think of in my own experience.
Blessings to you and keep on keeping on! - teresa

Thank you Teresa
I have prayed about this many times.... I'm suspecting a possible generational thing. But!! I'm very excited to report that I took this idea to pray about my one thing I wanted to change this week (which was not to eat after 10 pm) and I'm happy to report that I didn't even have the desire to eat. And also there was no evidence of sleep eating either.... Woo hoo!
Happy, Jewel
