This past Wednesday I unloaded some construction material by hand and stacked it neatly on the ground at the job site. (Stacking things neatly is a result of my father's instruction and discipline when I was young. Parents of young children take note; what you attempt to teach your children does work.) Thursday morning, my back started hurting, and the pain increased throughout the day. Being me, I forced myself to work through the pain. When I got up this morning, attempted to get dressed for work, and had much pain and difficulty putting on my pants and socks, my wife said, "If you can't even dress yourself, you're not going to work! Take the day off!" This explains why I am home at 12:00 noon on a Friday, and not at work.
So, if I may, I ask for prayer for my back to heal over this three-day weekend. Thank you.

Father God, please heal Dennis' back. In the name of Jesus, relax all the tendons and muscles, and reverse any damage he may have done to himself. Give him peace and joy this weekend, and give him a new understanding of your mercy. Thank you for his faithfulness and his awesome sense of humor! Amen!

Thank you, renkymac. My back is somewhat improved this morning. Didn't get the three day weekend off, however; I'm on call through today, and had to go in for three hours yesterday. Oh, well, the overtime is nice.

Sorry to hear your back is hurting. One thing that helps at this point (in addtion to prayer) is to alternate ice and heat. Ice helps reduce tissue swelling and is all you should use the first 48 hours, but then heal helps relax the ajoining muscles that become tight/knotted in response to trying to protect the injury. Try this about 3 to 4 times a day... ice pack for 20 miinutes, let rest at air tempertature for about 20 minutes, then getntle heat (a moist heating pad is the best) for about 20 minutes then let rest for at least an hour before repeating.
Hope you are 100% soon. - teresa

Thursday, January 14. (Can it be the middle of January already?!) My back is back to 99%. Pun intended. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and advice.
